Irfan Pathan Criticises MS Dhoni For THIS Act; Watch Video

Indian Premier League aka IPL 2024 has been full of twists and entertainment so far, as almost every match ended with a surprising suspense. Towering sixes, shattering stumps and flying catches, national and international cricketers have garnered praise widely for their outstanding performances. However, a few players have to face the heat as they cannot make it up to the expectations of teams and followers. Also, cricketing spirit and sportsmanship are kept above everything in franchise cricket.

In the match between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), senior cricketer MS Dhoni, who has a massive fan following, did something unusual that was not liked by the fans and former cricketers.

Irfan Pathan Criticises MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni played a cameo of 14 runs from 11 balls studded with a six and a four. In the last over of the match, MS Dhoni refused to leave the crease after hitting the ball at long-on, even when his partner, Daryl Mitchell had started running towards him. Realising that it was an easy run, Mitchell ran towards MS Dhoni, however, Dhoni showed him a hand and asked to return.

In a way, Mitchell ran a double in place of a single, but no run was awarded to the side as MSD didn't run.

This act irked many as every run is important in cricket.

During the post-match show, former cricketer Iran Pathan, also a good friend of MS Dhoni, criticized MSD for not taking the run. He said "Dhoni shouldn't have refused the single. This is a team game. Don't do that in a team game. The other guy is also an international player. If he had been a bowler, I would have understood it for sure. You have done that with (Ravindra) Jadeja and with Mitchell as well. You don't need to do that. He could have avoided it".

Chennai Super Kings faced defeat against Punjab team by 7 wickets.
