IPL Auction 2024: Most Expensive Mitchell Starc Sold To Kolkata Knight Riders For Rs 24.75 Cr
Showering money on Australian speedster, Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan owned Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought Mitchell Starc for Rs 24.75 Crore in the IPL Auction 2024 held at the Coca-Cola arena in UAE's Dubai. Former cricketer and captain for the KKR, Gautam Gambhir, who rejoined the team recently as a mentor, helped the franchise owners to snatch the deal from Lucknow Super Giants, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians.
With the hefty amount of Rs 24.75 crore, Starc became the most expensive player in the Indian Premier League auction for IPL 2024. Starc's base prize was Rs 5 crore which raised rapidly to the highest amount paid to any cricketer yet.

So far, Rovman Powell, Harry Brook, Travis Head, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Wanindu Hasaranga, Rachin Ravindra, Shardul Thakur, Azmatullah Omarzai, Pat Cummins, Gerald Coetzee, Harshal Patel, Daryl Mitchell, Chris Woakes, and Mitchell Starc have signed the fresh deals.
However, Australian batter and former captain Steve Smith went unsold unexpectedly. In the IPL Auction 2024, 333 players are going under the hammer including 214 Indian and 119 overseas cricketers. Out of 333, 116 are capped, 215 are uncapped, and 2 players are from the associate nations.
Ahead of the IPL Auction 2024, Punjab Kings coach Trevor Bayliss said that the team will look forward to get Mitchell Starc and Travis Head. He said both the players did well in the recently concluded World Cup, and the World Test Championship.
Rovman Powell went to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 7.40 Crore, Harry Brook went to Delhi Capitals for Rs 4 Crore, Travis Head to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 6.80 Crore and Pat Cummins for Rs 20.50 Crore to Sunrisers Hyderabad were some other big names to go under the bidding process.
