IPL 2025 Finals To Be Played At Narendra Modi Stadium In Ahmedabad, IPL Playoffs Venues Changed Too: Reports
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday made significant adjustments in IPL fixture, including a reduction in the number of venues to six. Notably, they have chosen the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as the host for the final match. This decision, as reported by ESPNCricinfo, comes with a strategic view, especially considering the unpredictable weather conditions during India's rainy season. The shift in venue aims to ensure a smooth execution of the final, slated for June 3, alongside accommodating Qualifier 2 on June 1 at the same location.
The original venues for the playoff matches, the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad and Eden Gardens in Kolkata, were replaced due to the logistical reshuffle post-suspension. The playoffs are now expected to unfold at a new venue in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, with the matches planned for May 29 and 30. This change was part of the BCCI's comprehensive strategy to manage the challenges posed by the weather and to maintain the tournament's integrity despite the unforeseen break.

The IPL made a strong return on May 17, marking the continuation of the season with an announcement from the BCCI. They confirmed that, after thorough discussions with government and security bodies as well as key stakeholders, it was decided to proceed with the remaining matches. This decision led to a revised schedule, which included 17 matches across six venues, culminating in the grand finale on June 3. The commitment to move forward showcased the resilience and adaptability of the organizers in face of challenges.
Unfortunately, the commencement was marred by the weather, with the first match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders washed out due to rain. This incident highlighted the unpredictability of the season and the potential impact on the tournament's schedule.
To summarize the playoff scheduling, the matches were organized as follows: Qualifier 1 on May 29, the Eliminator on May 30, followed by Qualifier 2 on June 1, and ultimately, the final on June 3.
