IPL 2025 Final: BCCI Pays Tribute To Operation Sindoor, Invites Armed Forces Chiefs
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited the chiefs of India's armed forces to attend the IPL 2025 final as a special tribute to Operation Sindoor. The Indian Premier League's final match will be contested on June 3 at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.
The decision to invite key military leaders is intended to commemorate the Indian armed forces for their outstanding performance in Operation Sindoor, which resulted in the destruction of around 100 terrorists during strikes on nine terror facilities. The operation was conducted in retribution for the April 22 Pahalgam terror incident, which murdered 26 civilians.

The resulting escalation resulted in a brief military standoff before a ceasefire deal was negotiated with Pakistan on May 10.
BCCI spokesman Devajit Saikia confirmed the situation to PTI, saying, "We have extended an invitation to all Indian Armed Forces chiefs, top-ranked officers, and soldiers for the IPL final in Ahmedabad to celebrate the success of Operation Sindoor." He emphasised that the Indian cricket board appreciates the "bravery, courage, and selfless service" of the armed personnel participating in the operation.
Saikia went on to say that the closing ceremony of the IPL 2025 final would be devoted to military troops, noting, "While cricket remains a national passion, there is nothing more important than the nation's sovereignty, integrity, and security."
The event is anticipated to be attended by luminaries such as General Upendra Dwivedi (Chief of Army Staff), Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi (Chief of Naval Staff), and Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh.
Due to escalating tensions following Operation Sindoor, the IPL was momentarily postponed on May 9, but resumed on May 17 after the ceasefire went into effect. The final match will be between the two teams that emerged triumphant in the playoffs leading up to June 3.
