IPL 2025: Ex-Pakistan Cricketer's Big Advise For Ishan Kishan
It has been a roller-coaster year for Ishan Kishan. The wicketkeeper-batter was excluded from the BCCI central contracts, casting doubts on his return to the Indian cricket team. However, his inclusion in the Duleep Trophy squad suggests that the BCCI is giving him another opportunity to prove himself. Kishan's impressive century in the Buchi Babu tournament for Jharkhand further highlights his potential.
Basit Ali, a former Pakistan cricket team star, shared his thoughts on Kishan's future prospects. He advised Kishan to focus on the IPL instead of hoping for a national team comeback before the Australia series or even the Champions Trophy. "Ishan Kishan needs to focus on the IPL now because he doesn't have a chance of returning to the Indian team till the Australia series. In fact, there's no chance till the Champions Trophy. Let's see what happens after that," Basit Ali said on his YouTube channel.

India's Upcoming Challenges
Ali also commented on India's upcoming five-match series against Australia in November. He believes that India will miss Cheteshwar Pujara despite any potential series outcome. "Be it 5-0, 4-1, 3-2, or 2-2, India will miss Cheteshwar Pujara. He is that player who can tire the bowlers and create a chance for the other batter at the other end to score runs," he added.
Pujara played a crucial role during India's Test series victory in Australia in 2021-22, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer in that series. Despite this, he lost his place in the team due to subsequent low scores.
The BCCI's decision to include Kishan in the Duleep Trophy squad indicates their willingness to give young talent another shot at proving their worth. This move could be pivotal for Kishan as he aims to secure a spot in India's national side once again.
Kishan's performance in domestic tournaments like Buchi Babu has been noteworthy and might play a significant role in his future selections. His century for Jharkhand showcased his batting prowess and determination.
As India prepares for their challenging fixtures ahead, including the Test series against Bangladesh and Australia, players like Kishan and Pujara remain focal points of discussion among cricket enthusiasts and experts alike.
The cricketing community eagerly awaits how these developments unfold and whether Kishan can make a successful return to international cricket while Pujara's absence might impact India's performance against formidable opponents like Australia.
With these upcoming matches and tournaments, Indian cricket fans are set for an exciting period filled with anticipation and hope for their team's success on various fronts.
