IPL 2025: BCCI Allows 5 Players Retention And 1 RTM
IPL 2025: According to the reports, the members of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have finalized to allow the retention of maximum 5 players and 1 Right to match (RTM) for each franchise for the bidding for the upcoming IPL Mega auction.
Today, IPL's Governing Council (GC) met at the Four Seasons Hotel in Bengaluru to finalize the retention rules.

The RTM rule was last used in IPL in 2018. In 2024 edition, BCCI allowed only 4 retentions and but reports have suggested that this time, the cricket governing body has increased retentions to 5.
This means that every team will get a chance to secure their core, and by using the RTM, they will get a chance to bid for their favorite player.
