IPL 2024 To Be Shifted To UAE?

If the reports doing round the internet are to be believed then the Board of Control from Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to conduct the Indian Primer League (IPL 2024) in two legs and the second half of the prestigious tournament will be held in UAE. According to the reports, the decision to organize IPL 2024 in two phases is likely to be finalized due to the Lok Sabha elections 2024, which might clash simultaneously.

Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) will commence on March 22 and the schedule for it has already been shared by the cricketing body. It is expected that the BCCI may share dates for the IPL second leg after the announcement of the poll date by the Election Commission of India.

In the inaugural match, defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

According to a report published in The Times of India, top-notch BCCI officials are in the UAE to 'explore the possibility' of organizing the Cash-Rich League in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi.

"The Election Commission of India will announce the election schedule on Saturday at 3 pm. After that, the BCCI will decide whether IPL matches should be moved to Dubai. Currently, a few top BCCI officials are in Dubai to explore the possibility of organizing the second half of the IPL in Dubai," a report quoted A BCCI official.

During Covid, the BCCI had conducted IPL in two phases and the tournament was moved to UAE for 2020 and 2021 editions.

Meanwhile, it was also reportedly learned that a few franchises have collected copies of the passports of players as a precautionary measure.

However, there has been no official announcement from the BCCI on a change in venue or dates yet.
