IPL 2024: Sunil Gavaskar's Big Advice For Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

Ahead of another enthraling edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), former Indian captain and legend Sunil Gavaskar gave a big suggestion to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). With less than a month to go for the Cash-Rich League, all ten franchise teams have pulled up their socks and are hitting the nets hard to display the best set of skills. Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) that released top notch bowlers like Josh Hazlewood, Wanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel, added Alzarri Joseph, Lockie Ferguson, Yash Dayal and Tom Curran to their kitty for IPL 2024.

Comparing franchise teams namely Delhi Capital, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunil Gavasker feels that Royal Challengers Bangalore need to strengthen their bowling attack.

During a chat show on Star Sports, former captain was asked about the Royal Challengers Bangalore bowling and major changes that they have made, Gavaskar said he thinks that RCB's bowling has become weaker. He Sunil Gavaskar underlined that releasing Josh Hazlewood was a fine decision as he was not going to be available for the full season.

But releasing Harshal Patel who picked 14 wickets in 13 games last year was not understandable. He also raised a flag against release of Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga who had the potential to turn the tables around.

"However, to let go of Harshal Patel, to let go of Hasaranga, both of whom can bowl at the start as well as in the middle and the final overs, to let go of such experience means they have probably not helped their team," Gavaskar added.

Sunil Gavaskar added that it won't be easy for Alzarri Joseph to deliver best on batting-friendly pitch of Chinnaswamy.

"Yes, you might have got a Lockie Ferguson in the team and you have got an Alzarri Joseph, who has probably got the best figures in the IPL when he played for the Mumbai Indians, he has six wickets for 12 runs or something like that, but can he replicate it on the Chinnaswamy pitches? That is going to be the issue," Sunil Gavaskar said.
