IPL 2024 LSG vs KKR: Lucknow Super Giants' Special Gesture For Mohun Bagan

IPL 2024: It's a super Sunday for cricket lovers as two matches will be played today in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). The first match of the day, match number 28, will be played at Kolkata's Eden Garden between the host Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants. While, Mumbai Indians will lock horns with Chennai Super Kings at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Amid towering sixes, rolling boundaries, and flying stumps, fans noticed that Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) players, who usually wear a blue jersey with orange strides, were donning maroon and green color clothes. The special jersey was a way to give tribute to the city and its famous football club Mohun Bagan Super Giant.

For the unversed, Mohun Bagan wears a Maroon and Green color jersey, and LSG decided to wear the same colors to show support and cheer for the grand old football club, that has produced many big players.

The fans much appreciated the move by a cricket team to support a football club. Notably, Lucknow Super Giants boss Sanjiv Goenka, owner of RPSG group, also owns Mohun Bagan Super Giant (MBSG) in the Indian Super League.

The Lucknow team today wore a maroon color jersey with green on the arms, paired with a maroon lower studded with sponsors' logos at the front and the player's name and lucky number on the back.

The high-voltage matches between both in-form teams is being played at a batting track and it is expected that there will be raining sixes and fours at the Eden Ganden. KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and invited the Lucknow team to bat first.

At the time of toss, Iyer said, "Feels nostalgic, the crowd is electrifying and this was what we missed playing out of Kolkata, great feeling to be back. I've no idea about the conditions, the last game was a belter, but we're professionals and will have to adapt. Bowling first, so Rinku (Singh) goes out, Harshit Rana comes in."
