IPL 2024: England Great's Big Remark On Hardik Pandya vs Rohit Sharma MI Captaincy Row

Former England captain and commentator Michael Vaughan, who is famous for his blunt statements and unexpected cricket predictions, shared his views on the cold war going on between Mumbai Indian new captain Hardik Pandya and former captain Rohit Sharma. Since, the Mumbai Indians bought Hardik from Gujarat for a whopping Rs 15 crore trade and named him the skipper of the team, MI and Rohit Sharma fans have not been happy with the decision to replace a five-times IPL-winning captain.

On past several occasions, fans booed Hardik Pandya, which surprised everyone, including Michael Vaughan. In a podcast, the England great said since Hardik played for Gujarat, it was understood during the MI vs GT match that the people of Ahmedabad did not like the all-rounder leading the opponent's camp. But he was surprised when the same happened in Hyderabad and Mumbai too.

Michael Vaughan said the kind of treatment Hardik has been receiving is not good. Fans need to boost his confidence as he is an Indian player and will be a part of India's T20 World Cup team too. He added that the fans need to understand that booing may affect a player's performance.

Replying to the question of Hardik Pandya or Rohit Sharma, who is a better choice for Mumbai Indians captaincy, the former cricketer said he personally would have named Rohit Sharma as captain. Hardik's return to Mumbai is itself a big enough pressure, and Rohit Sharma is obviously going to lead India's T20 team.

Naming Rohit Sharma as a Mumbai Indians' captain would have been a sensible move and Hardik would have succeeded him in next year or 2, Vaughan further added.\

Notably, Mumbai Indians lost their first three matches under Hardik Pandya's captaincy and now have bounced back on the winning track by bag two back-to-back wins against Delhi and Bengaluru.
