IPL 2024 Auction's Biggest Disappointments: Know Unpicked Players Who Couldn't Secure Contracts
The 2024 IPL auction witnessed record-breaking deals and thrilling bidding wars, but amidst the euphoria, some established stars saw their hopes dashed as they went unsold. Here's a look at some of the biggest disappointments:

Steve Smith
The surprising absence in this year's IPL auction was Steve Smith, who failed to attract any team interest. Smith, who moved from Rajasthan Royals to Delhi Capitals in the previous auction for Rs 2.20 crore ahead of IPL 2021, couldn't secure a spot. The right-handed batsman boasts over 2485 runs in 103 IPL matches, featuring a century and 11 half-centuries.
Josh Hazlewood
Australian pace bowler Josh Hazlewood didn't receive any bids in the IPL 2024 auction due to his unavailability during the initial phase of the tournament. Despite playing a pivotal role in Australia's recent ODI World Cup triumph, Hazlewood won't be part of the IPL early on as he'll be away in March and April, anticipating the arrival of his first child. Previously associated with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Hazlewood was listed in the top tier with a base price of Rs 2 crore.
Other Unsold Gems:
Josh Inglis, Adil Rashid, and Rassie Van Der Dussen were among other prominent names who remained unsold in the auction.
