Ind vs Afg: BCCI Announces Team For Afghanistan Series, Check Full Squad

On Sunday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed the lineup for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar managed to convince Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to join back the squads for the shorter format. Both the cricketers were away from the T20 format since India's exit in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022.

India vs Afghanistan will be the last T20 series for Rohit Sharma and men ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup slated for June this year.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, who proved their metal once again in the recently concluded Test series against South Africa, have been rested for the series against Afghanistan.

Speedsters Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, and Mukesh Kumar will take care of the pace department, while Jitesh Sharma and Sanju Samson will serve as wicketkeepers in the team.

Selectors have rewarded Sanju Samson for his good performance in the Rainbow Nation. Samson scored his maiden ODI hundred against South Africa in the third and final match of the series in Paarl. In 24 T20 appearances, the wicketkeeper-batsman notched 374 runs at an impressive strike rate of 133.57 averaging 19.68.

India and Afghanistan are slated to play three T20I matches between January 11 to 17. The inaugural match is set for January 11 in Mohali, followed by the second match on January 14 in Indore, and concluding with the third match on January 17 in Bengaluru. Each match will commence at 7 PM (Indian Standard Time).
