Ind vs Afg 3rd T20I Highlights: Rohit Sharma Powers India To Win Double Super Over Against Afghanistan
It was a thriller! Full on Entertainer!! A match that was anticipated just only a formality in the three-match series against Afghanistan, turned out to be historic. It was the first time in history, that a double super over game happened at the international level. Fans who went to see India vs Afghanistan's 3rd T20 Match at Bengaluru's M Chinaswamy stadium enjoyed it to the fullest. At the start, the match looked like a waste of time when four Indian batsmen went back to the pavilion for a very low score of 24.
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored only 4 runs. But everyone was stunned when Virat Kohli got out for a golden duck. That was a major heartbreak for fans nationwide. Youngster Shivam Dube, who scored back-to-back fifties, also failed to impress and got out for only 1 run. Sanju Samson also failed and went back without disturbing the scorer.

But the captain had some other plans. Rohit Sharma held one end and continued his efforts to steady the ship. Rohit Sharma was complimented by Rinku Singh, who proved his metal once again and helped the skipper take the Indian innings forward.
After setting the tone, Rohit Sharma wreaked havoc Afghanistan's bowling and notched a power hundred. Rohit could not even open his account in the first two matches, and today he scored his T20 career highest (121).
He took only 69 balls to score 121 runs studded with 11 boundaries and 8 towering sixes. Rinku Singh also played a wonderful inning of 69 runs off 39 balls laced with 2 fours and 6 massive sixes. Both the batsmen batted with a strike rate over 175.
Thanks to Rohit and Rinku's hard work, Team India managed to pin a good total of 212 runs on the score board.
In reply, Afghanistan openers made it look like a piece of cake. Rahamanullah Gurbaz and skipper Ibrahim Zadran scored quick fifties of 32 and 41 balls, respectively. The strong start that was much needed to chase the big total was complimented by number three batsman Gulabadin Naib, who also notched an unbeatable half-century. However, Indian bowlers continued to take wickets but could not control the bullish total. Mohammad Nabi also added valuable 34 runs to Afghanistan's total.
The nail-biting chase ended with a tie and putting it to a super over.
The Story Of Super Overs:
Cricket fans, including commentator Pragyan Ojha, who wished for a super, got excited when scores were tied. As per the rules, Afghanistan was directed to bat first.
Gurbaz and Naib came out to bat for Afghanistan, while Indian skipper Rohit Sharma gave the ball to Mukesh Kumar for the super over. On the first ball of the super over, Naib got run out trying to convert a single into a double. After that, a four, a single, six, and two leg-bye runs powered Afghanistan to post a target of 17 runs for India.
As expected, skipper Rohit Sharma himself came out to bat with Yashasvi Jaiswal. With a few singles and two back-to-back sixes from Rohit Sharma, India came closer to Afghanistan's 17-run target. In the last ball, India needed two runs but managed to get one only.
Which put the game to double super over.
This time India had to bat first. With a six, a four, and a single from Rohit Sharma's bat, India managed to post a low total of 11 runs.
But spinner Ravi Bishnoi trapped the Aghan Army with his turning balls and scalped two back-to-back wickets to edge past Afghanistan in the 3rd T20. With this victory, India also clean sweeped the three-match series.
