When the list of 131 awardees became public, Harmanpreet Kaur spoke about personal emotions around the recognition. Harmanpreet Kaur described how the news first reached the family home and stressed the importance of parents learning about the honour before Harmanpreet Kaur personally did.

"My dad got a call from President House. This year I'm going to get the Padma Shri Award. I think it's a very big moment for me. And I'm happy that, you know, before me my parents got to know," Harmanpreet Kaur had said in a video shared by Mumbai Indians.

Harmanpreet Kaur also pointed out that Rohit Sharma was included in the same Padma list. Harmanpreet Kaur highlighted Rohit Sharma's effort and dedication in international cricket and expressed happiness that Rohit Sharma is being recognised at the same time.

"Many many congratulations to Rohit also. We have seen how, you know, he has been really working hard and I think it's a great moment for him," she added.
