Harbhajan Singh's Big Statement On India's Tour To Pakistan For Champions Trophy 2025
There has been much speculation about whether the Indian cricket team will travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy in 2025. India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series for over a decade due to political tensions. These teams only face each other during international tournaments. Although Pakistan visited India for the ODI World Cup in 2023, the BCCI has not clarified if India will travel for the Champions Trophy.
Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh believes India should not visit Pakistan unless player security is guaranteed. He stated, "What they say is what they think is right while what we say is our point of view. I feel the security concerns are always there and if the security of the players is not ensured there then I don't think that the team should go there."

Security Concerns and Government Decisions
Harbhajan added that if Pakistan can ensure full security, then the Indian government should consider it. "If they say that the teams will get full security and there is no hassle then it's on the government to think and make decisions because, in the end, it's not just about cricketing matters and the issue goes beyond," he said.
He emphasised that while cricketers may want to play, their safety must be prioritised. "As a cricketer, I can say if you wish to play cricket, play cricket but the security concern is always there and players should not go there until the security is guaranteed," Harbhajan concluded.
Alternative Venue Suggestions
Earlier, former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria suggested that India should avoid travelling to Pakistan for the tournament. He proposed Dubai as a better venue. "Looking at the situation in Pakistan, I have to say that the Indian team should not go to Pakistan, and Pakistan should think about it," Kaneria said.
Kaneria believes that a hybrid model with matches in Dubai would be more feasible. "The ICC will make its decision, and most likely, it will be a hybrid model; it will be played in Dubai," he added.
Player Safety as Top Priority
Kaneria stressed that player safety must come first. "The safety of the players is the first priority. Respect is the second priority. There are many things," he said.
He praised BCCI's efforts and expressed confidence that all countries would accept their final decision. "I think BCCI is doing a great job. I think all the countries will accept the final decision. I think it will be a hybrid model," Kaneria concluded.
The debate over India's participation in Pakistan continues amid ongoing political tensions. The final decision rests with both cricket boards and governing bodies like ICC.
