Gautam Gambhir Wants Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul To Play Duleep Trophy; Bengaluru Likely To Host

It seems like star Indian cricketers Virat Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and others have taken the recent series defeat against Sri Lanka to their hearts. Keeping all the stardum aside both ace cricketers have decided to work again on their basics. According to the reports, new India head coach Gautam Gambhir wants all players to stick to their roots and play the red ball cricket as much as possible.

Gambhir reportedly wants the front line-up to strengthen their basics and prepare for the upcoming Test season.

According to media reports, Gautam Gambhir is keen to see Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, along with senior batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli participating in the upcoming Duleep Trophy so that they can prepare well for the forthcoming test series and young cricketer will also get experience to play with senior cricketers.

It has been learned that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suggested that Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Surykumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav to play in the Duleep Trophy. However, speedster Jasprit Bumrah has been asked to take a break from cricketing assignments to manage pressure and fatigue.

It is expected that Ishan Kishan may also get a chance in the Duleep Trophy, and doors for his return to the national side could be opened up if he performs well at the domestic level.

Duleep Trophy Format:

Indian chief selector Ajit Agarkar will form four teams (India A, India B, India C, and India D) and will divide big names to these teams along with domestic stars.

All Duleep Trophy matches are expected to be played in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. However, the cricket governing body is also planning to organize some matches at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
