Team India's bowling coach, Morne Morkel, has emphasised the importance of consistency for bowlers in English conditions.

"I think consistency is crucial in England and there is consistency when we practice," he stated during a training session in Beckenham. Morkel highlighted the diverse skill sets within India's bowling attack, which allows them to execute basics effectively while adapting to individual processes.

New Leadership and Challenges

Shubman Gill will lead India as the new Test captain at Headingley. This marks his debut as skipper in the longest format of the game. The team faces challenges with key players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli having retired from Test cricket. The series against England also marks the beginning of India's new World Test Championships cycle.

Gautam Gambhir took over as head coach after Rahul Dravid stepped down following India's T20 World Cup 2024 victory. The team has struggled recently, winning only one out of their last eight Tests and losing six matches during this period, including three consecutive losses at home.
