Former Pakistan Batter Salman Butt Says Shubman Gill Is Doing Injustice To His Talent

Former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt, who achieved several cricket feats during his career, feels that Shubhman Gill is not performing as per his talent. Reviewing Gill's recent performance against Afghanistan, Salman Butt said he hasn't done much, while his replacement, in the second T20 game, Yashvi Jaiswal grabbed the opportunity with both the hands and impressed everyone with a blitzkrieg half-century.

Underlining Shubhman Gill's poor shot selection to get out, Salman Butt said he shows a kind of hurry which is not at all required. He is simply throwing his wicket even after scoring a good 20 runs.

Salman Butt Reviews Gills Performace

"I think Shubman Gill has done an injustice to his talent in the last few games. He is too good a player and has too much skill for the kind of hurry that he has been showing. He scores 20-odd and then plays a loose shot. This is what he wasn't doing when he had a successful year. He just needs to bat and bat without doing anything special. He needs to realize that even if you are the best batter in the world, you can't play every ball on your own terms. You have to react to the ball instead of dictating it," Salman Butt said in a YouTube video.

In this glittering career, Salman Butt represented Pakistan's national team in 33 tests and 78 ODIs. He scored over 4000 runs collectively to make Pakistan win on numerous occasions between 2003 and 2010. He was also a member of the Pakistan team that won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2009.
