Cricketer Mohammed Shami, 25 Other Athletes Bag Arjuna Award

For his outstanding performance in the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup and his contribution to Indian Cricket, the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports has rewarded pacer Mohammed Shami with the Arjuna Award. The cricketer will receive the prestigious award from the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 9, 2024.

The minister named 26 Indian athletes on Wednesday who will receive the Arjuna Award for clinching titles and making the nation proud with their extraordinary performances in the year 2023. Arjuna Award is given to athletes for showcasing sportsmanship, a sense of discipline, and great performances at the International level.

Mohammed Shami

Arjuna Award is India's second-highest sporting honor given by the President of India to athletes for their contribution to sports for continuous four years. The 33-year-old speedster for India led the pace attack for the national side at the ICC Cricket World Cup and powered India to emerge victorious on numerous occasions.
