Since Team India clinched the ICC T20 World Cup in Barbados, 1.4 billion Indians have eagerly awaited the arrival of the World Cup trophy in India. Today, the anticipation ended as Rohit Sharma and his team landed at Delhi's IGI airport with the glittering trophy in hand. India triumphed over South Africa in a thrilling final, winning by 7 runs.

India was crowned World Champion on June 29, but adverse weather conditions in Barbados left the team stranded for four days, with local authorities closing all airports and halting air traffic. Once the situation improved, the BCCI dispatched a chartered plane to bring back the players, officials, support staff, and Indian media personnel.

During the 18-hour flight, the jubilant Indian players couldn't contain their excitement and began celebrating mid-air. A video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shows Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah posing with and lifting the priceless trophy repeatedly. Their emotions were evident, with big smiles, tearful eyes, and a myriad of feelings reflecting the achievement of a dream every cricketer harbors - winning the World Cup for their country.

Team India is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi before heading to Mumbai for a celebration at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

A victory parade will take place from Nariman Point to the Wankhede Stadium between 4 and 5 pm, followed by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah presenting a cheque of Rs 125 Crores to Team India.

"It's a great feeling. After a long time, India has won the World Cup, and now they will be welcomed in the land of cricket, Mumbai. Cricket is a religion not just in Mumbai but throughout India," said MCA member Jitendra Awhad on Team India's arrival.
