Champions Trophy 2025: BCCI Allows Players To Stay With Wives
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took a big U-turn on its earlier decision and has permitted family members of Indian cricket team members to stay with them. The big decision was taken right before the start of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The restrictions were imposed after the team's bad performance during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which have been lifted now.
The BCCI had imposed a 10-point directive that limited family presence during overseas tours exceeding 45 days to just two weeks.

Additionally, there were restrictions on personal staff and commercial engagements.
Family Presence Policy
According to a report published in Dainik Jagran, while families can now join players in Dubai, they are only permitted for one match. Players must coordinate among themselves and submit a request to the BCCI for approval. The board will then handle the necessary arrangements.
The BCCI's new policy aims to maintain "professional standards and operational efficiency during tours and series." Any exceptions require pre-approval from the Chairman of the Selection Committee and Head Coach. Non-compliance could lead to disciplinary measures by the BCCI.
The board has warned that any player failing to adhere to these rules might face sanctions. These could include exclusion from all BCCI tournaments, including the Indian Premier League, or deductions from their retainer amount or match fees under their contract.
India's schedule for the ICC Champions Trophy includes matches against Bangladesh on February 20, Pakistan on February 23, and New Zealand on March 02.
