Brave Rishabh Pant Slams A Half-Century Despite Being Injured
Battling pain and adversity, Rishabh Pant delivered a courageous half-century at Old Trafford on the second day of the fourth Test against England, anchoring India's innings at a critical juncture. With the visitors starting the day at 264/4 and Pant nursing an injury that had kept him off the field, few expected him to return - let alone make a defining impact.
Yet, when India's middle order began to crumble, Pant walked in with a heavily strapped leg, determined to fight. His movement was visibly restricted, but his shot-making instincts remained razor-sharp.

A Heroic Return to the Crease
Pant entered after Ravindra Jadeja's early dismissal to Jofra Archer, who found bounce and movement in a lively morning spell. With the lower order exposed and the English attack charging in, Pant knew time and timing would be crucial.
He chose his shots wisely, avoiding risky runs and relying on placement to accumulate runs. Boundaries came through clean punches, cuts, and lofted drives - none more emphatic than the four that brought up his half-century: a beautiful stroke through extra cover off Ben Stokes.
Grit Over Glamour
Pant's innings wasn't about flamboyance this time - it was about resilience. Unable to run freely, he cleverly rotated strike when possible and shielded the tail from the strike at key moments. His half-century was not just a personal milestone, but a stabilising force that helped India post a respectable total in testing conditions.
Even as wickets fell around him - including Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar - Pant held firm, frustrating England's bowlers with his refusal to give in.
England's Fightback
England's bowlers, particularly Ben Stokes, kept the pressure on. Stokes picked up five wickets in the innings, including the crucial breakthroughs of Sundar and debutant Anshul Kamboj. Archer and Chris Woakes bowled with venom on a pitch that offered uneven bounce.
Despite their efforts, it was Pant's innings that stood out - a rare blend of skill, pain tolerance, and mental strength.
Rain Plays Its Part
Rain interrupted play briefly in the second session, adding another layer of uncertainty to an already tense day. Fortunately for India, conditions cleared quickly, allowing Pant to continue his innings without losing rhythm.
