BCCI Unveils New National Cricket Academy Near Bengaluru Airport
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the upcoming of a new National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah shared this news along with some pictures on his X post, highlighting the advanced features of the facility.
The current NCA, established in 2000 under former BCCI President Raj Singh Dungarpur, is located near M Chinnaswamy Stadium. VVS Laxman, a legendary cricketer, currently heads the academy.

New Facility Near Bengaluru Airport
In February 2022, Sourav Ganguly's administration revealed plans to build a new NCA facility near Bengaluru's airport. Now, after two years, the facility is nearing completion and promises to offer top-notch amenities.
"Very excited to announce that the BCCI's new National Cricket Academy (NCA) is almost complete and will be opening shortly in Bengaluru," Jay Shah wrote in his X post. "The new NCA will feature three world-class playing grounds, 45 practice pitches, indoor cricket pitches, an Olympic-size swimming pool and state-of-the-art training, recovery and sports science facilities. This initiative will help our nation's current and future cricketers develop their skills in the best possible environment!"
State-of-the-Art Features
The new NCA will boast three world-class playing grounds and 45 practice pitches. Additionally, it will include indoor cricket pitches and an Olympic-size swimming pool. The facility aims to provide comprehensive training and recovery options for cricketers.
This initiative by the BCCI aims to create an optimal environment for both current and future Indian cricketers to hone their skills. The advanced sports science facilities are expected to significantly enhance player development.
