Bangladesh Premier League (BPL 2024) Withdraws Match Fixing Allegations Against Shoaib Malik

Hours after reports claiming that Bangladesh Premier League (BPL 2024) franchise Fortune Barishal has scrapped Shoaib Malik's contract over match-fixing allegations, team owner Mizanur Rahman said he was only sharing his thoughts that three no-balls should be investigated by the Anti-corruption body.

"It's unfortunate because I was just sharing my thoughts with them and they telecasted it. We speak and discuss about lot of things but that does not imply we are standing by it. But still I feel that I shouldn't have spoken that way," Rahman said.

Mizanur dismissed reports claiming that the franchise has terminated Malik's contract.

Earlier today, Bangladesh media claimed that Fortune Barishal junked Shoaib Malik's contract with immediate effect over suspicion of match-fixing. The decision was taken by the Fortune Barishal after Shoaib Malik bowled three no-balls in one over. Malik overstepped the line on the third ball and then twice on the last ball.

The incident happened during the match against Khulna Tigers on January 22.

The match ended in favor of Khulna Tigers, who emerged victorious by 8 wickets and 12 balls to spare. Tigers roared laud with a brilliant partnership between Anamul Haque and Evin Lewis. Both the openers scored half-centuries against Fortune Barishal and chased the target dominatingly.

On the claims of Shoaib Malik leaving Bangladesh to avoid the probe, Rehman said that Malik had in-fact gone to the UAE after the team's last match but asked for extension of leave which was rejected by the team management.

"Shoaib Malik was expected to stay with us till February 14 and after the last match he went to Dubai and later asked me whether he can come [back] on February 6, but our main games are after that [14th] so it won't help if he comes on 6th and so I said 'we don't need you'.

"But it had got nothing to do with all the things that is coming up in media like we terminated his contract due to match-fixing allegations," he said.

Malik was then brutally trolled on social media as Sania Mirza's curse has started working. After the divorce, Sania Mirza had released a statement, wishing Malik all the best for his new innings, also informing that she and Malik had been separated for a long time.
