Details
Uttarakhand's rich tradition of handicrafts and handlooms is set to be further celebrated and supported. The state government, through its Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Department, has launched an 'Award Scheme to Encourage Entrepreneurs'. This initiative is designed to shine a spotlight on the incredible talent and hard work of registered artisans and weavers across the state.
The Award Scheme to Encourage Entrepreneurs is all about recognizing and rewarding outstanding craftsmanship. It's implemented by the Department of Industries, Government of Uttarakhand, to foster creativity, innovation, and quality in the handicraft and handloom sectors. Both state and district-level awards are presented to exceptional artisans and weavers.
This scheme is specifically for individuals who are actively involved in handicraft or handloom work. If you are a registered artisan or weaver, or part of a registered cooperative society or NGO in Uttarakhand that focuses on these crafts, you could be eligible to apply.
By offering these awards, the government aims to encourage more people to take up and excel in traditional crafts. It provides a platform to showcase unique skills, promotes high-quality work, and inspires the next generation of artisans and weavers to innovate while preserving cultural heritage.
