This scheme offers short-term practical experience in various departments of the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) for selected students, who will work as interns at the Head Office or Project Office.

Benefits

Stipend:

  1. Interns would be paid a stipend of₹10,000/-per month. The processing of payment towards the stipend amount will be initiated after the completion of the internship period.

Number of Interns:

  1. Maximum Number of Interns selected at a time will not be more than 20.

Period of Internship:

  1. The period of Internship shall be minimum one month and maximum three months.
  2. After completing internship, students will be awarded an Experience Certificate.
  3. Those who will not satisfactorily complete the requisite period of internship will not be awarded any certificate or stipend.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for this internship, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. You are currently studying or have completed a Graduate or Postgraduate degree from a recognized university (national or international).
  2. If you are applying as an undergraduate student, you must have scored at least 75% marks in your Class 12 exams.
  3. If you are applying as a postgraduate student, you must have scored at least 60% marks in your Graduation.
  4. If you are applying as a Research Scholar, you must have scored at least 60% marks in your Postgraduate degree.

When you join the internship, please ensure you have the following:

  • A letter from your Head of Department or Principal confirming your student status at the institution.
  • A "No Objection" certificate from your Head of Department or Principal.
  • A Declaration of Secrecy, which needs to be submitted before you start your internship.

By the end of your internship, you will need to submit:

  • A Report or Paper on the subject assigned to you.
  • Mandatory Feedback to your concerned Head of Department.

What financial support can I expect as an undergraduate intern?

Undergraduate interns will receive a monthly stipend of ₹ 10,000/-.

What needs to be submitted when the internship is completed?

IWAI will provide you with a dedicated working space. If you need to travel for your assigned tasks, you will be reimbursed for travel costs as per the entitlement of a Technical Assistant at IWAI.

When will the stipend be given out?

The stipend will be paid upon satisfactory completion of your internship period.
