  • Land Adventure
  • Water (Sea) Adventure
  • Air Adventure
  • Life Time Achievement (for activities on Land, Sea, and Air)

Typically, only one award is given in each category per year. However, the Ministry may increase the number of awards if there are specific, justifiable reasons and with the approval of the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Who can apply:

  1. Individuals with excellent performance, outstanding leadership qualities, a strong sense of adventure, discipline, and consistent achievement in a specific adventure field (Land, Air, or Water/Sea).
  2. The award can also be given posthumously if the situation arises.

Individuals with excellent performance, leadership qualities, and a consistent record in adventure can apply through the portal.

Documents Required

Applicants are generally required to submit the following:

  • Passport-sized photograph
  • Proof of Identity
  • Proof of Address
  • Proof of Age (e.g., 10th Marksheet)
  • Proof of Educational Qualifications (Marksheets, Degree)
  • A duly filled and signed description of achievements, following the format provided in the scheme guidelines.

If selected for the award, the candidate will need to provide:

  • A bank mandate form authorized by the bank.
  • High-resolution photographs showing the candidate engaged in adventure activities.
  • Measurements for tailoring work.

Can I apply if I've received this award before?

You can apply again, but you won't be awarded a second time in the same category. For instance, if you've won for Land Adventure, you can't win for Land Adventure again. However, if you have achievements in Water Adventure, you are welcome to apply for that category.

Who is eligible to apply for the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award?

Any Indian citizen actively involved in adventure sports or a close family member of an adventurer who received the award posthumously can apply.

How should I submit my recommendation letter?

You need to get a recommendation letter from the competent authority, scan it, and upload it along with your other supporting documents on the application portal.

No, this award is exclusively for individuals. When registering on the portal, you should select 'Individual' as the applicant type.

What should I choose under 'Nominator Type'?

Is a recommendation letter mandatory for everyone?

A recommendation is required for personnel serving in the Army, Navy, or Air Force. Other applicants can get recommendations from authorities mentioned in the scheme guidelines. If you cannot obtain a recommendation, you can fill 'NA' in the 'Recommending Authority' column during application.

What kind of documents should I upload as proof of my achievements?

Upload all your year-wise achievements in chronological order as a single PDF document, clearly numbered and indexed as per the instructions. The recommendation letter (if applicable) should also be part of this PDF.

If I submit my application, does it mean I'm automatically eligible?
