  • Students who fail or pass undergraduate/postgraduate exams and then join a recognised professional or technical course are eligible, but subsequent failures will not be condoned (except in Group 'I' courses), and course changes are restricted.
  • Students pursuing studies via correspondence (including distance and continuing education) are eligible.
  • Employed students who take leave without pay for the entire course duration and study full-time are eligible.
  • Income Ceiling: The annual income of the parents/guardians from all sources should not exceed ₹2,00,000/-.
  • All children of the same parents/guardians can receive benefits.
  • A student cannot hold more than one scholarship or stipend simultaneously. They must choose the most beneficial one and inform the awarding authority.

Important Notes on Income Criteria:

  • Only the income of parents (or husband, if married and unemployed) is considered. If both parents are deceased, the income of the supporting guardian is considered.
  • If parental income is affected by the death of an earning parent and falls within the ceiling, the student becomes eligible from the month of the incidence. Applications can be considered on compassionate grounds even after the last date.
  • House rent allowance exempted from income tax is also exempted from the 'income' calculation for this scheme.
  • An income certificate is generally required only once, at the time of admission for courses lasting more than one year.
  • The income ceiling is revised periodically based on the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers.

  1. Obtain the prescribed application form for 'fresh' or 'renewal' scholarships from your educational institution or the relevant State/UT department.
