The Government of Odisha, through its Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Department, believes that everyone, including those who beg, are valuable assets to society. The department aims to create a supportive environment where these individuals receive equal opportunities, their rights are protected, and they can fully participate in society. As part of a comprehensive initiative for beggars, the state promotes the 'SAHAYA-PRE & POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP' scheme.

This scheme is designed to offer financial assistance to child beggars and children of beggars who are studying at pre-matriculation (Class 5 to 10) or post-matriculation (Class 11 onwards) levels. The goal is to help them continue and complete their education without financial hurdles. Benefits

  1. Under the Scheme, one-time financial assistance of ₹1,00,116 /- at the time of marriage shall be granted to every unmarried girl belonging to the minority community with effect from October 2, 2014 subject to the eligibility condition.
  2. The financial assistance of ₹1,25,145/- is provided to the parents of disabled girls.

Note:The "Shaadi Mubarak" is only a one-time financial assistance and can be availed only once in a lifetime.

How To Apply

  3. The DSSOs will review the applications and send their fund requirements to the SSEPD Department by the end of September each year.
  4. After receiving the funds, the DSSOs, with the Collector's approval, will disburse the scholarship amounts to the students' bank accounts.
  5. The utilization certificate for the expenditure, along with proof of remittance and counter-signature from the Collector, must be submitted to the Department by February 28th of each year.
