Details

The Government of Goa, through its Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, has introduced a revised scheme to support milk producers. The goal is to make Goa self-sufficient in milk and encourage more farmers to get involved in dairy farming.

What Is This Scheme?

The "Revised Scheme For Incentives To Milk Producers" is designed to make dairy farming a more profitable venture for farmers in Goa. It provides financial incentives to producers who supply their milk to registered cooperative societies or groups. This initiative helps increase local milk production and supports the state's dairy sector.

Who Can Benefit From This Scheme?

This scheme is primarily for farmers residing in Goa. It encourages them to produce their own milk and supply it to designated cooperative societies or self-help groups. The aim is to support genuine milk producers and foster dairy entrepreneurship.

Why This Scheme Is Important

By offering subsidies and incentives, the scheme makes dairy farming more financially attractive. This, in turn, is expected to increase the local supply of milk, reducing the state's reliance on external sources. It also supports farmers by providing assistance for cattle feed, making the entire dairy operation more sustainable.

Objective

This scheme in Goa aims to boost local milk production by encouraging farmers with a 40% composite subsidy on milk proceeds, covering incentives and cattle feed costs.
