Benefits

  1. Under this scheme, a one-time assistance of ₹5,00,000/- will be given to silicosis-affected workers upon confirmation by the Silicosis Diagnosis Board.
  2. In case of the death of a worker before receiving the rehabilitation assistance after confirmation of Silicosis, the assistance shall be payable to:
  1. Widow/ widower if the worker was married or
  2. To one of the living parents if the worker was unmarried

Eligibility Criteria

  1. You must be a writer or author.
  2. You must be a native of Puducherry by birth or domicile, having resided there for at least five years, or have maintained continuous residence in the jurisdiction before the application date.
  3. Your research publication must be a book with a minimum of 150 pages.
  4. The first edition of your submitted text must have been printed and published by December 31 of the specified year.
  5. Essays or dissertations submitted for university degrees or examinations are not eligible.
  6. If you have previously received this award, you cannot apply again for the next four years.
  7. The submitted text should not be a simplified version, adaptation, translation, or paraphrase of someone else's work.
  8. This award is specifically for research publications. Novels, short stories, poetry, drama, travelogues, and collections of essays are not eligible.
  9. The entire research text must be in the Tamil language.
  10. The research work submitted for the Tholkappiar Award must have been published in the calendar year immediately before the award year. It should not have been published in any prior year.
