    FAQ’s

How will the financial assistance be given out?

The money will be sent directly to your bank account. This is done through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The funds are released in stages, with the first installment given after initial excavation, the second after reaching three feet deep, and the rest after the entire pond is verified as complete.

What size should my fish pond be?

The scheme requires your pond to have a minimum water area of one acre. For this, you need to have land that is at least 1.3 times the water area. So, for a one-acre water area, you should have at least 1.3 acres of land dedicated to the pond.

Can I get help if I only have leased land?

Yes, if you have leased land, you can apply. You'll need to provide a legal Lease Agreement and a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the actual landowner, confirming their permission for you to build the pond there.

What's the maximum amount I can receive?

If you are from an SC/ST community, the maximum you can get is ₹4,00,000. For all other applicants, the maximum assistance is ₹3,50,000. This amount is 80% for SC/ST and 70% for others, of the total project cost.

Do I need to have experience in fish farming to apply?

While not strictly mandatory for all, having previous experience in fish farming or having built a fish seed hatchery with government support can be beneficial and might be a priority during selection.

What if I want to build a pond bigger than one acre?

You can certainly build a larger pond. However, the government subsidy is limited to the cost of constructing a one-acre pond. You will have to cover the extra expenses for any area beyond one acre from your own resources.

Where should I submit my application?

You can apply at your local district fisheries office. Keep an eye on the official Jharkhand Fisheries department website for any announcements regarding online application portals when the scheme is open for submissions.

What happens if I don't finish building the pond on time?

If you fail to complete the pond construction as per the guidelines and within the specified timeframes, your subsidy may be cancelled. You could also be barred from applying for government schemes in the future.

How can I track my application's progress?

You can check the status of your application by visiting your district fisheries office. The government may also provide an online tracking system on the official fisheries website. For detailed updates, visit: www.jharkhandfisheries.org.

What documents do I need to provide?

You'll need proof of land ownership or a lease agreement, an NOC if applicable, your bank account details, a caste certificate (if you're SC/ST), and your Aadhaar card. If you have prior fish farming experience, it's good to have proof for that too.

Is technical help provided for building the pond?

Yes, the District Fisheries Officers are there to help. They can guide you on how to best construct your pond, manage the water quality, and adopt effective techniques for sustainable fish farming.
