Eligibility Criteria

  1. Applicants must be citizens of India.
  2. The scholarship is for studies in all recognized post-secondary courses pursued in recognized institutions within India.

  8. Students pursuing studies through correspondence, distance education, or continuing education are also eligible.
  9. Employed students on leave without pay for the entire duration of the course, studying full-time, are eligible.
  10. Students whose combined parental/guardian income from all sources does not exceed ₹2,00,000 per annum are eligible.
  11. All children of the same parents/guardians can avail the scheme benefits.
  12. A scholarship holder cannot hold any other scholarship or stipend simultaneously. They must choose the most beneficial one if offered multiple.
  13. Students can accept free lodging, grants, or ad-hoc help for books and equipment from other sources in addition to this scholarship.

Income Criteria

The annual income of parents/guardians from all sources should not exceed ₹2,00,000. This income ceiling is revised periodically based on the Consumer Price Index.

Important Notes on Income:

  • Only the income of parents (or husband, if married and unemployed) is considered, not other earning family members.
  • If both parents are deceased, the income of the supporting guardian is considered.
  • If the income ceiling is met due to the death of an earning parent, the student becomes eligible from the month of the incident, and applications can be considered even after the last date on compassionate grounds.
  • House rent allowance exempted for income tax purposes is also exempted from income calculation for this scholarship.
  • An income certificate is typically required only once for courses longer than a year.
