Details
Life can be tough when you are forced to leave your home due to conflict. The Indian government understands this and has a special scheme to help families who were displaced from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Chhamb.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has introduced a Central Assistance for One-Time Settlement scheme. It aims to provide financial relief to families who had to leave their homes in PoK and Chhamb due to war and hostilities, and have since settled in Jammu & Kashmir. This is a one-time settlement to help them rebuild their lives.
This scheme is specifically for those families who are part of the 36,384 families originally displaced from PoK in 1947 or from Chhamb in 1965 and 1971. The claimant, head of the family, or their successor or heir must be residing within Jammu & Kashmir.
For many years, these families have been living with the trauma of displacement. This scheme provides a significant financial package to offer them closure and a chance to start fresh. It's designed to compensate for the properties they lost and to provide a foundation for sustained earnings, helping them achieve economic stability.
