In a bid to ensure that no deserving student is left behind due to unfortunate circumstances, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has launched the Swanath Scholarship Scheme. This initiative aims to offer crucial financial assistance and encouragement to students who have lost one or both parents, or whose parents have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.

  • All eligible Master’s students on the rolls of NDRI will receive ₹ 7560/- per month.
  • All eligible Doctoral students on the rolls of NDRI will receive ₹ 10,500/- per month during the period of Ph.D. tenure. In-service Ph.D. students will receive Institute Scholarship @ ₹ 1000/- per month provided they are employed in ICAR/SAU system and who opt to join at a place other than the one where working and provided further that the 3rd degree is not from the same Institute.

Rules Governing The Contingency Grant(a) The Master’s and Doctoral students on rolls will be eligible for a contingency grant not exceeding an amount of Rs. 12000/- in case of Master’s and ₹30000/- in case of Doctoral for the duration of the course in order to meet certain genuine expenses connected with their studies.(b) Contingency amount will be paid to students who do not receive scholarships for any reason, provided they are on the rolls of NDRI and continuing their studies at NDRI.

    • If one parent is alive, a current year income certificate issued by the Competent Authority, clearly stating that the family income is less than ₹8,00,000.
    • Bonafide Certificate issued by the educational institution.
    • For Degree Level: 10+2/equivalent and 10th Mark sheets.
    • For Diploma Level: 10th / equivalent Mark sheet.

    C. For Wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action (Shaheed):

    • Death Certificate.
    • Shaheed Certificate issued by the respective Armed Forces / Central Paramilitary Forces.
    • Bonafide Certificate issued by the educational institution.
    • For Degree Level: 10+2/equivalent and 10th Mark sheets.
    • For Diploma Level: 10th / equivalent Mark sheet.
    • Current year income certificate issued by the Competent Authority, explicitly stating that the family income is less than ₹8,00,000.

    What is the maximum duration for receiving the Swanath Scholarship?

    The scholarship can be provided for a maximum of 4 years for Degree students joining in the first year and 3 years for Diploma students joining in the first year. If a student is already in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of Degree studies, the scholarship duration will be reduced to 3, 2, or 1 year, respectively. Similarly, for 2nd or 3rd-year Diploma students, the duration will be 2 or 1 year, respectively.

    Can I apply for the Swanath Scholarship if I'm already receiving a merit scholarship from the Central or State Government?

    No, students who are currently receiving any scholarship from the Central Government, State Government, or AICTE are not eligible to apply for the Swanath Scholarship.

    If I'm a first-year engineering student getting the PMSSS scholarship, can I also get the Swanath Scholarship?

    No, you are not eligible to apply for the Swanath Scholarship because you are already receiving a scholarship from the Government of India (PMSSS).

    What are common reasons for rejection of the Category Certificate?

    Your Category Certificate might be rejected if it's not issued by the appropriate authority like the District Magistrate, Deputy Commissioner, SDM, or Tehsildar. It should also be in your name, the copy should be clear, and it must correspond to the category you've stated in your application. Uploading an irrelevant document or a wrong category certificate will also lead to rejection.

    What could lead to the rejection of my Annual Family Income Certificate?

    Reasons for rejection include not submitting the certificate for the current financial year, the certificate not being in your name or a family member's name, or it being issued by someone who isn't a competent authority (like a Tehsildar, Magistrate, Revenue Officer, or Block Development Officer). The certificate must also have the signature and stamp of the competent authority.
