Details
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs offers two significant schemes to uplift Scheduled Tribe (ST) students: the National Fellowship and the National Scholarship. These initiatives aim to provide robust financial support, enabling bright minds from ST communities to pursue higher education and research without financial barriers.
The National Fellowship & Scholarship for Higher Education of Scheduled Tribe Students is a Central Sector Scheme. It is fully funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The scheme has two parts: the Fellowship Scheme for M.Phil and Ph.D. studies, and the Scholarship Scheme for graduate and postgraduate courses in select premier institutions.
Meritorious students belonging to Scheduled Tribes (ST) are the primary beneficiaries. The Fellowship part is for those who have completed their Master's degree and wish to pursue M.Phil or Ph.D. The Scholarship part is for ST students admitted to graduate and postgraduate programs in identified professional fields at premier institutes.
This scheme plays a crucial role in ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder the academic aspirations of ST students. By providing comprehensive financial assistance, it encourages them to excel in higher education and research, thereby contributing to their personal growth and the overall development of the community.
