Benefits

  1. Remuneration:Stipend @ ₹ 10,000/- for Undergraduates and ₹ 20,000/- for Post Graduate/ Research Scholars per month will be payable on satisfactory completion of their internships.

Note:

  1. Last month's remuneration shall be provided on submission of their Report/paper.
  2. Interns will be eligible for remuneration equivalent to the number of days of attendance in the office against the total number of working days in that month.
  1. Experience Certificate:A certificate regarding the successful completion of the Internship shall be issued by IWAI in the enclosed format inAnnexure-Bof the Scheme Guidelines.

Note:

  1. The certificate will be issued upon the submission of their Report/paper and its evaluation by the Director/ Director-In Charge level officers in their concerned Division.
  2. Internship is neither a job nor any assurance for job in IWAI.
  3. No accommodation will be provided to interns.
  4. The internship may be terminated by IWAI by giving one month notice in case the performance of the candidate is not up to the mark.
  5. Interns not completing the requisite period as stipulated in their offer will not be issued with any certificate.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for these schemes, candidates must meet specific criteria:

For Fellowship Scheme (M.Phil/Ph.D.):

  • Must have completed a Post-Graduation degree with at least 55% marks.
  • Maximum Age Limit: 36 years as of July 1st of the award year.

  • Family income from all sources should not exceed ₹6,00,000 per annum. (For orphans supported by guardians, this criterion does not apply).
  • The scholarship continues for the course duration, subject to satisfactory performance.
  • Students receiving this scholarship cannot claim benefits from any other Centre/State scholarship for the same study.

FAQ’s

Can I apply for this scholarship if I'm already receiving another scholarship?

No, if you are selected for the National Fellowship, you cannot receive any other fellowship or scholarship from the Central or State Government for the same course of study. If you are found to be drawing another scholarship, you will need to refund the amount received from this scheme.

What happens if my research progress isn't satisfactory during the fellowship?

If your research work is found to be unsatisfactory, or if you are found ineligible at any point, or if you engage in misconduct, your fellowship can be cancelled. Concealing facts is also a ground for cancellation.

How is family income calculated for the scholarship scheme?

Family income is calculated based on the gross income of both parents if both are working. Income from other earning family members is not included. For orphans, the income criterion doesn't apply. For married candidates, the spouse's income is also added.

What are the financial benefits for a Ph.D. student in Science/Engineering Technology?

For Ph.D. in Science/Engineering Technology, you'll receive a monthly scholarship of Rs. 31,000/- for the first two years and Rs. 35,000/- for the remaining three years. Additionally, you get an annual contingency grant of Rs. 25,000/- and HRA as per UGC rates.

Can I transfer my fellowship to a different university?

Yes, you can transfer your fellowship to another university. However, you'll need to submit a 'No Objection Certificate' from both your current and the new university. The Ministry's approval is then required to complete the transfer process.

What if I have CGPA/SGPA marks on my Post-Graduation marksheet for the fellowship?

If your marks are in CGPA/SGPA, you'll need to upload a 'Conversion factor formulae certificate' issued by your university or institution along with your mark sheet.

How many scholarships are available for graduate and postgraduate studies?

All eligible ST students who gain admission based on merit to the identified premier institutes are eligible for scholarships. There isn't a fixed number of slots per institute, state, or stream. However, students admitted through the management quota in private institutes are not eligible.

What is the age limit for the Fellowship Scheme?

The maximum age limit for the Fellowship Scheme is 36 years, calculated as of the first day of July in the year you are applying for the scholarship.

How do I upload my documents, and what should be the file format and size?

Yes, you can upgrade from M.Phil to Ph.D. You'll need to submit an upgradation certificate evaluated by a committee of three members: the Head of the Department, your Supervisor, and an outside subject expert.

Are there any reserved slots for specific categories of ST students?

Yes, out of the 750 fellowship slots, priority is given with reserved slots: 5% for Divyangjan (38 slots), 25 slots for PVTG, and 30% for Female students (225 slots). If slots in these categories remain unfilled, they are redistributed to other eligible ST applicants based on merit.
