  6. It also recognises contributions towards women's safety, security, health, education, and overall dignity.
  7. A State or Union Territory can also be awarded for substantially improving the Child Sex Ratio (CSR).
  8. Awards are generally not given posthumously, unless the nominee passed away after their proposal was submitted to the Ministry.

Nominations can be submitted by:

  • State Governments and Union Territory Administrations.
  • Concerned Central Ministries/Departments.
  • Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Universities, Institutions, and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
  • The Selection Committee also has the authority to recommend an individual for the award suo-moto, with proper justification.
  • Both self-nominations and nominations recommended by others are considered.
