    Who Can Apply?

    1. You must be a permanent resident (domicile) of the North Eastern Region (NER).
    2. Your parents' annual income from all sources should not be more than ₹4,50,000 per year.
    3. You should have passed your Class 12th or an equivalent exam in the year you are applying.
    4. You must have secured admission in the first year of a degree course (general, technical, professional, medical, or paramedical).
    5. Your college or university must be recognized under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, or be a Central/State government-funded institution, or an Institute of National Importance.
    6. Your institution must have an AISHE code.
    7. Transgender candidates are eligible, with reservations as per Government of India norms.
    8. Scholarships are distributed based on the population of each NER state. If slots remain vacant in one state, they will be shared with others.
    9. A portion of scholarships is reserved for Persons with Disability (PwD) as per Government of India norms.

    Important Notes on Renewals:

    1. Scholarships can be renewed for your entire first degree duration, provided you maintain good conduct and attendance.
    2. Renewal requires an annual progress report verified by your institution's administrative head.
    3. Failing to get promoted to the next class means forfeiting the scholarship.
    4. Changing your course of study is not allowed; it will lead to forfeiture of the scholarship.
    5. The scheme is implemented and monitored by UGC.
    6. Previous year's awardees will continue to receive assistance through designated Canara Bank branches.
    7. For integrated degree courses, the scholarship is for the full duration.
    8. For dual degree courses, it's only for the first degree tenure.

    A Bonafide Certificate from your institute is needed if the institute is in a different State/UT than your domicile.

    How is the scholarship amount paid to the selected students?

    The scholarship is paid directly to the student's bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), managed via PFMS.
