Details

The Uttarakhand government, through its Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Department, has launched a special scheme to support its talented traditional artisans. The 'Pension Scheme for Craftsmen' is designed to offer a helping hand to elderly artisans who have dedicated their lives to preserving our cultural heritage through their craft.

What Is This Scheme?

This scheme is a pension initiative by the Uttarakhand Government's Industries Department. It aims to provide a monthly financial supplement to traditional craftsmen who are 60 years of age and above and come from families living below the poverty line.

Who Can Benefit From This Scheme?

The scheme is specifically for individuals who are traditional artisans and craftsmen residing in Uttarakhand. Key criteria include being at least 60 years old, being part of a Below Poverty Line (BPL) family, and already receiving an old-age pension from the government.

Why This Scheme Is Important

This scheme recognises the invaluable contribution of traditional artisans to Uttarakhand's economy and culture. By providing additional financial security, it helps these skilled individuals lead a more dignified life, especially in their old age, and encourages the continuation of traditional art forms.

Objective

This scheme provides financial aid and social security to traditional artisans in Uttarakhand who are 60 years or older, belong to below poverty line families, and already receive an old-age pension.

Benefits

  1. By installing a rooftop solar plant, households can significantly reduce their electricity bills by utilizing the power generated by the system. Any surplus electricity can be fed into the grid, allowing consumers to earn additional income.
  2. For individual domestic consumers, the Government of India provides a subsidy of ₹17,662/- per kW for solar plants up to 3 kW capacity and ₹8,831/- per kW for plants up to 10 kW, directly credited to the consumer’s account. Additionally, the Uttarakhand State Government offers a subsidy of ₹17,000/- per kW for installations up to 3 kW.
  3. For group housing societies and residential welfare associations, the Government of India provides a subsidy of ₹8,831/- per kW for rooftop solar plants up to 10 kW capacity.
