What is the stipend amount for JRF and SRF?

For those who qualified JRF-NET (CSIR/UGC), the stipend is ₹31,000 per month for JRF and ₹35,000 per month for SRF. If you qualified LS-NET, you'll receive ₹18,000 per month as JRF and ₹21,000 per month as SRF.

How is the research progress assessed?

After two years as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF), your research progress will be evaluated by an Expert Committee. Based on this assessment, you may be promoted to Senior Research Fellow (SRF).

What happens if my research progress isn't recommended for SRF?

If the Expert Committee does not recommend you for promotion to SRF, you will continue as a JRF for the third year. The committee's decision might also lead to the termination of your fellowship.

Where can the fellowship research be carried out?

The fellowship can be pursued at universities, postgraduate colleges, government research establishments, R&D wings of public or private sector companies, and other recognized institutions located in Haryana.

Does this fellowship ensure a job after completion?

No, the HSCST Fellowship is awarded for a specific duration. It does not guarantee any permanent employment with HSCSIT or any other organization after the fellowship ends.

What is the maximum duration for the fellowship?

The fellowship duration is initially for 3 years, and it can be extended for the 4th and 5th years. However, the combined tenure as JRF and SRF will not exceed five years in total.

Is there any financial aid for research expenses?

Yes, the fellowship includes an annual contingency grant of ₹20,000. This amount is provided to the university or institution where the fellow is pursuing research.

Can I work part-time while receiving this fellowship?

With prior permission from HSCSIT, you might be allowed to take up a temporary paid lectureship or research job in a recognized institution for a period not exceeding one year during your entire fellowship tenure.

What is the age limit to apply?

The upper age limit for applying as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) is 28 years. This limit is relaxed by up to 5 years for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Women, Physically Handicapped (PH), and Other Backward Classes (OBC).
