Are you a budding photographer in Goa with a keen eye for capturing the essence of the state? The Goa State Photo Contest and Exhibition Scheme is here to give you a platform to showcase your talent and win attractive prizes!
Organised by the Department of Information & Publicity, Government of Goa, this scheme is designed to nurture photography and photojournalism skills among Goan youth. It aims to foster self-employment opportunities and provide a stage for local photographers to display their creativity.
This contest is open to all aspiring photographers. While individuals who have been born and lived in Goa for at least 15 years are preferred, the scheme is inclusive and does not bar others from participating.

What are the themes for this year's Goa State Photo Contest?
The contest has two categories: 'Unknown Tourist Spot in Goa' and 'Promoting Self Employment to sustain livelihood'. You can submit entries for one or both categories.
Can I use my mobile phone to take photos for the contest?
Unfortunately, no. Photographs taken with mobile phones are not eligible for submission in this contest.
What information needs to be written on the back of my printed photos?
On the back of each photograph, please write your name, nationality, postal address, mobile number, telephone number, and email address in clear block letters.
What are the cash prize amounts for the top three winners in each category?
The first prize winner gets ₹20,000, the second prize winner receives ₹16,000, and the third prize winner is awarded ₹12,000 in each category.
Besides the top prizes, are there any other awards available?
Yes, there are five consolation prizes of ₹2,000 each awarded in every category. Certificates will also be given to the best entries.
How many photographs can I submit in total?
You are allowed to submit a maximum of 4 different photographs. You can choose to submit them in either one category or across both categories.
Is there any specific size or format for the printed photographs?
Yes, you need to submit colour prints in 12x8 size, and they must be mounted. You also need to provide a high-resolution soft copy of each photograph.
What proof do I need to show that I am eligible to participate?
You will need to provide a latest Residence Certificate to prove your eligibility, especially if you are claiming preference for being a long-term resident of Goa.
Do I need to explain what my photos are about?
Yes, you need to provide a brief description for each photograph, which should not be more than 50 words. You also need to submit a short bio-data of yourself, not exceeding 100 words.
What should I do to prove that the photos I submitted are mine?
You must submit a Certificate of Originality, which is a declaration stating that all the photographs you have submitted are your own original work.
Are drone-shot images allowed in this contest?
No, photographs taken using drones are not eligible for submission to this contest.
What technical details about the camera are required with the submission?
You need to include the technical details of the camera that was used to take each photograph you submit.
Will the Department keep the copyright of the photos after submission?
The photographs submitted will become the property of the Department of Information and Publicity. They may be used for exhibitions or publications by the Department.
