The Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) offers a summer internship for motivated students and teachers to experience real research, learn from scientists, and explore advanced facilities.

Benefits

  • Subsidy of 90% of the total cost (or) ₹ 25,000/‐ per hectare whichever is less for Marginal Farmers, Small Farmers, Scheduled Caste/ Schedule Tribe and Women Farmers.
  • Subsidy of 70% of the total cost (or) ₹ 25,000/‐ per hectare whichever is less for Big Farmers/ Institutions.
  • *The beneficiaries so selected will be intimated individually if the farmer completes the work on their own fund, the subsidy amount will be released by an Electronic clearing system in the farmer's bank accounts.*If the farmer chooses manufacturers/ dealers, the subsidy amount will be released directly to the manufacturers/dealers' bank account after obtaining a satisfactory completion letter from the concerned farmer.

    Eligibility Criteria

    For Students:

    1. Must be an Indian citizen.
    2. Currently pursuing or have recently completed (within 6 months of degree award) an undergraduate or postgraduate degree from a recognized Indian or international university/institution.
    3. Must have secured a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.32 on a 10-point scale at all academic levels.
    4. Applications are encouraged from students in fields like Optics, Laser Physics, Space Physics, Geology, Geophysics, Atmospheric Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Meteorology, Chemistry, Ocean Sciences, and related subjects.
    5. Preference will be given to KVPY/DST INSPIRE fellows. A good understanding of basic physics and mathematics is expected.

    For Teachers:

    1. Must have an academic background in Physics, Applied Physics, Astronomy, Space Physics, Geology, or related fields.
    2. Should have a minimum of five years of teaching experience at the graduate or postgraduate level.
    3. Must demonstrate a strong interest in research, supported by publications or ongoing projects.
    4. Should hold a PhD degree.

    How To Apply

    The application process involves direct contact with a project supervisor. Once a supervisor agrees to take you on, they will inform the Dean's office. Formal approval will then be issued.

    Can I choose to do the internship online?

    Whether the internship is conducted online or offline depends on the nature of the project you are assigned to.

    What are the consequences of missing internship days without permission?

    Any absence from the internship without prior permission can lead to the termination of your internship.

    What is the process to get selected for this program?

    Firstly, you need to connect with a project supervisor at PRL. If they agree to mentor you, they will inform the Dean's office, and further formal approval will follow.

    Is there any final assessment at the end of the internship?

    Yes, at the conclusion of the program, students are required to deliver a final seminar and submit a project report. This report must be certified by their project guide.
