Benefits

Financial Assistance:

Estimated project cost per AICTE Lab is ₹ 1,10,00,000/- non-recurring expenditures (covering the cost of equipment, tools and consumables) of₹ 80,00,000/- and recurring expenditures (covering the cost of events and activities for two years) of ₹ 30,000,00/-. AICTE can provide up to 50% i.e. ₹ 55,00,000/-.

Training to Faculties and Students:

Various types of training will be provided to the faculties and the students on creative thinking, problem solving, collaboration, etc.

Activities to be conducted by an IDEA Lab:

The following table lists activities/ events and their number/ frequency in AICTE IDEA Lab and there has to be commitment to conduct minimum numbers, to be eligible for sanctioning of the project.

Who Can Apply?

For Mentor Institutes (MI):

  1. The institution must be approved by AICTE. Central Funded Institutions may not require AICTE approval if they fall under specific categories.
  2. If the institution is approved by AICTE, it must already have valid accreditation for its programs. This accreditation should be valid for at least 6 months from the application submission date.
  3. Institutions offering AICTE-approved programs other than engineering (like Management, Hotel Management) also need a valid accreditation status for at least 6 months from the application date.
  4. Institutes solely running diploma courses are eligible if they have a minimum of four diploma courses running and a valid accreditation for at least 6 months from the application date.

For Mentee Beneficiary Institutes (MBI):

  1. Must be an AICTE-approved institute.
  2. Should never have been a Mentor Institute (MI) under any AICTE scheme.
  3. Should not be currently mapped as an MBI with any other MI.
  4. None of its programs should have been accredited in the last ten years.

How to Apply

Interested institutions aiming to become a Mentor Institute (MI) need to submit an application along with a Detailed Project Report (DPR). Here’s a general overview of the process:

  1. Prepare Application cum Detailed Project Report (DPR): Gather all required information and documents as per the checklist provided by AICTE.
  2. Identify Potential MBIs: As an MI applicant, you need to propose a list of up to 10 nearby institutes (within approximately 200 km) that you intend to mentor. These institutes must voluntarily agree to be mentored.
