During the unprecedented times of the COVID-19 pandemic, our brave healthcare workers were on the front lines, risking their lives to save others. To support them and their families, the Government of India launched a special insurance package.

What Is This Scheme?

The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package: Insurance Scheme for Health Workers Fighting COVID-19 is a financial safety net. It's designed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to provide a significant insurance cover of ₹50,00,000/- to healthcare personnel. Benefits

  • The Distinguished Visiting Professor will be reimbursed air-fare in “Y-Class” or actual fares if performed by Rail or approved INAE rate if travel is performed by Road.
  • The Distinguished Visiting Professoris entitled to an honorarium of ₹ 10,000/- per lecture day.
  • For on-line sessions of DVP Programs, the Experts will be paid only Honorariums of ₹ 10,000/- per day without travelling/lodging expenses based on mutually decided timings between concerned DVPs in association with the concerned Institutes.

    For Loss of Life Due to COVID-19:

    1. Fully completed and signed claim form by the nominee/claimant.
    2. Certified copy of the deceased's identity proof.
    3. Certified copy of the claimant's identity proof.
    4. Certified copy of proof of relationship between the deceased and the claimant.
    5. Certified copy of the death summary from the hospital (if death occurred in a hospital).
    6. Original Death Certificate.
    7. Certified copy of the Laboratory Report confirming a positive COVID-19 test.
    8. Certificate from the healthcare institution/organization stating that the deceased was an employee/engaged and was deployed for care and came in direct contact with COVID-19 patients. For community health workers like ASHAs, this certificate should be from the Medical Officer of the Primary Health Centre (PHC).

    For Accidental Loss of Life on Account of COVID-19 Related Duty:

    1. Fully completed and signed claim form by the nominee/claimant.
    2. Certified copy of the deceased's identity proof.
    3. Certified copy of the claimant's identity proof.
    4. Certified copy of proof of relationship between the deceased and the claimant.
    5. Certified copy of the death summary from the hospital (if death occurred in a hospital).
    6. Original Death Certificate.
    7. Certified copy of the Post-mortem Report.
    8. Original Cancelled Cheque (desirable).
    9. Certified copy of the FIR.
    10. Certificate from the healthcare institution/organization stating that the deceased was an employee/engaged and had an accidental loss of life due to COVID-19 related duty.

    Specific certificates are required from the employer or relevant authority confirming employment/engagement and the cause of death or disability related to COVID-19 duties. This includes categories like:

    • Employees (Regular/Adhoc/Contractual/Daily Wagers/retired Government Officials/ Private individuals) engaged by Central/State/UT Governments health care facilities, Autonomous/PSU hospitals, AIIMSs, INIs, etc.
    • Private healthcare institutions.
    • Private persons engaged through an agency.
    • Community Health Workers (ASHAs and ASHA Facilitators).
    • Volunteers drafted by authorized Government officials.
