Sehri and Iftar fasting time for all the major cities in India for next 30 days.
The blessed month of Ramadan is here once again! Ramadan 2026 is the holiest month of the year in the Islamic calendar, as Muslims believe during this month God revealed the first verses of the Quran.
Ramzan commemorates Prophet Mohammad's first revelation of the holy book of Quran. This year, Ramadan began on Monday, April 12 - subject to the sighting of the moon - and conclude Wednesday, May 12.
In the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset. The fast begins before the sunrise with a small meal called Sahur or Sehri and is broken with an evening meal called Iftar.
The month is for a time of spiritual discipline, and contemplation on one's relationship with God.
How does it begin?
A moon-sighting committee in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, will make an official announcement. In India, the moon was sighted in the states of Karnataka and Kerala. It was first seen at Kappad in Kerala's Kozhikode and then in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts of Karnataka.
Ramadan rules of fasting:
Five daily prayers are observed every day from dawn to night. They are called: Fajr (dawn), Dhuhr (noon), Asr (afternoon), Maghrib (evening), and Isha (night).
Fasting begins just before dawn, when Muslims eat a light meal called "suhoor" where their intention to fast for the day is confirmed. There are fixed timings of sehri and iftar for each day.
With Sehri timings, you can now start your fast and break your fast according to the list. So start your fast at the right time and get the accurate fast breaking time. However, this year the celebrations are going to be a little different because of the novel coronavirus.
What is the significance:
It was in the holy month of Ramadan on the glorious night of Laylat al-Qadr that the holy Quran was first revealed to mankind. According to scriptures, throughout this month, the devils are locked up in chains in hell and nobody can come in way of your true prayers and the almighty. Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection and increased devotion and worship
