Pune Traffic Advistoy For Ganeshotsav: Check Traffic Plans, Road Closures, and Festival Routes Announced

Pune is all set to welcome Bappa with grandeur as Ganeshotsav kicks off on August 27. With thousands of devotees expected to throng the city streets until October 6, officials have rolled out a detailed traffic and transport blueprint to keep the celebrations smooth and safe.

Road Closures & Diversions

• Some of Pune's busiest stretches will see temporary changes to handle the festive rush.
• Shivaji Road: Closed between Gadital Putla Chowk and Gotiram Bhaiyya Chowk.
• Motorists heading from Shivajinagar to Swargate via Jangali Maharaj Road must turn left at SG Barve Chowk.
• Alternate routes: Khude Chowk → Mangla Talkies → Kumbharves Chowk, or Premier Garage Chowk → Shivaji Bridge.

Other closures include:

• Phadke Houd Chowk → Futka Buruj
• Appa Balwant Chowk → Moti Chowk
• Mangla Talkies → Kumbharves Chowk

These diversions are expected to ease congestion during peak processions.

Parking Made Easy

To avoid chaos, the city has designated multiple parking spots for visitors:

• Mitramandal Chowk to Patil Plaza
• Jamnalal Bajaj Putla (left side) to Puram Chowk
• Neelayam Bridge to Sinhgad Road junction

For vehicles carrying Ganesh idols, special parking bays have been created near Kamgar Putala Chowk, PMC Bill Centre, Tilak Bridge, and other strategic points for smooth access.

PMPML Bus Route Changes

Public transport too gets a festive makeover:

• Buses from Shivajinagar Stand to Swargate will now run via SG Barve Chowk and Jangali Maharaj Road.
• From PMC Stand to Swargate, buses will take a diversion through Jangali Maharaj Road → Alka Talkies Chowk → Tilak Road.

Heavy Vehicle Restrictions

To prioritize pedestrian safety and prevent gridlocks, heavy vehicles will be barred from several key roads, including Shastri Road, Tilak Road, and Laxmi Road, as per the police notification.
