Pune JJB Member Under Scrutiny For Swift Bail In Fatal Crash Case

LN Danwade, a member of the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), is under scrutiny for granting bail to a 17-year-old accused in a fatal Porsche crash in Pune. The bail was granted within 14 hours of the incident, raising questions and controversy.

The Commissioner of the Women and Child Development Department (WCD), Prashant Nanaware, has issued a show cause notice to Danwade. This notice seeks an explanation for the swift bail decision. Another JJB member, KT Thorat, has also received a show cause notice from Nanaware.

Details of the Incident

The tragic event occurred on May 19 at 2.30 am in Pune's Kalyani Nagar. The minor, allegedly intoxicated, drove a Porsche into a two-wheeler. This collision resulted in the deaths of two software engineers.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar assured on June 26 that legal action would be taken against all those involved in the accident. Despite this assurance, many are questioning why no immediate action was taken against the judge who granted bail so quickly.

Investigations and Reports

Danwade has already submitted a five-page report regarding his decision to grant bail. However, sources indicate that the investigating officer from the Women and Child Welfare Department is not satisfied with this report. Consequently, further action may be taken based on these findings.

The rapid bail decision has sparked significant debate and concern among officials and the public alike. The case continues to unfold as authorities delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding both the incident and the judicial response.
