Br Sri Namboothiripad explains the rare Maha Dravyavarthy Sahasra Brahma Kalasabhishekam ritual

Mumbai, Oct 28: Br. P.C. Dinesan Namboothiripad (Thantri- Guruvayoor, Sri Krishna Temple, Guruvayoor, Kerala) was in Mumbai on 14th September, 2022 in the Asthika Samaj Kochu Guruvayoor Sree Ram Mandir temple. He explained in detail about Maha Dravyavarthy Sahasra Brahma Kalasabhishekam.

The Asthika Samaj was established in 1923, with the blessing of his holiness Jagadguru Sri Shankaracharya Swamigal of Kanchi Kamakoti Pitam. The Temple attained its full-fledged status by installation of idols of Lord Sree Ramachandra, Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman in a specially created Garbagriha.

The Samaj over the years, coupled with the full support of the devotees enabled the installation of the other deities namely Lord Karthikeya, Navagraha Idols, Lord Guruvayoorappan, and Lord Swamy Ayyappan, exactly in the same manner as in Sri Krishna Temple, Guruvayoor, the ancient Temple in Kerala where he hails from. As a result of installation of the Deities, the divine set up of the Samaj has been enhanced to such an extent that the Samaj is now more popularly known as "Kochu Guruvayoor".

He enlightened by saying that invoking the blessings of all worshipping Deities at Samaj, it has been decided to perform a Maha Dravyavarthy Sahasra Brahma Kalasabhishekam (1008 Kalasa Abhishekam) to Lord Kochu Guruvayoorappan from 18/11/2022 to 25/11/2022, which is a very auspicious time as it is the sacred mandalam period.

MAHA DRAVYAVARTHY SAHASRA BRAHMA KALASABHISHEKAM is done very rarely in Kerala as well as outside the state of Kerala, as it involves elaborate thantrik rituals to be performed by learned scholars.

MAHA-DRAVYAVARTHY-BRAHMAKALASHA- MAHOTSAVA is a ritual performed rarely even in MAHA-KSHETRAS to enhance the power of the deity consecrated within the temple. This comprises of various Vedic and Tantric rituals including Prayashchittahomams, Triveda-mura-japa, Maha-chatuh-shuddi, samadhi-shuddhi, ativasahomam, dravyavarti-mahabrahmakalasha puja, abhishekams etc. Devotees have an unique opportunity to witness and take part in these events and earn the grace of Lord Guruvayoorappan.
