Railway budget scrapped after 92 years, merged with general budget

Rail budget has now been scrapped after 92 years. The Union Cabinet today cleared the merger of the Railway and Union Budget from 2017-18 onwards. It has also approved advancing the date for presenting the Union Budget by a month. Now the general budget of the union government is likely to be presented on February 1 instead of the last day of the month.
