Government announced OROP today, to be revised every 5 years

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar announced OROP, in the presence of three service chiefs. Previous Govt had estimated 500 crore,however in reality is OROP would cost 8000 crore to exchequer. Telling the points related to the scheme, Defence Minister, Personnel who retire voluntarily will not be covered under OROP scheme, Pension would be re-fixed every 5 years. Expenditure on arrears alone would be 10,000-12,000 crores.
